Porsche 4-door coupe
Rumor is that Porsche is developing a Jag Fighter too, a V8 Coupe' with foor doors codenamed E2. "The E2A is a 2+2 coupe, while E2B is a four-door sports wagon/shooting brake" according to Issue 488 April 2003 of "CAR" magazine. "Both are powered by the V8 Cayenne, and both have the potential to be offered in rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive." Theirs may have rear-hinged doors similar to the new Mazda RX-8 but unlike the CLE which will have doors that open conventionally. Porsche originally made an attempt to build this car with their "989" prototype developed in the mid-nineties. At that time the board of directors turned down the car saying it was "too far away from their sports car tradition". After the Cayenne, they must be thinking differently. If this car makes it to the market, Mercedes may not be standing alone with their "Jag Fighter"....
Hot Porsche Rumor - Project E2A
Comment: Reflecting on information given on the web and seriously considering the present market performance of the Porsche Automobile line up, the latter mentioned institution is economically driven to place such vehicle alias "E2A" and "E2B" on the market sooner than expected. The V8-engine used by the Porsche Cayenne does´nt fit in any other vehicle of the sports manufactures. Further , the license dues assigned to the sister institution ("Volkswagen")are very costly and the market appearance of the Cayenne is so far digested by the buying market .All afore mentioned economically lead to the necessity of a new product. A brillant idea would be cutting the license costs being presently generated by one item , by using the chasis/frame of the the Volkswagen "Phaeton" and building the Porsche E2A and Porsche E2B on this basis. The afore would ease cost of design considering that minor masking would only be required for hood , front and rear based on similar comparable features as seen when focusing the Porsche Cayenne and the Volkswagen Touareg.
The above given wouldactually increase the product range of institution - Porsche Boxster , Porsche Carrera (911) , Porsche Cayenne ,Porsche E2A (GT Sports Coupe´) , Porsche E2B ( Sports Limousine) and the Porsche GT.
