20 new Chrysler models by 2009

With the sale of the Chrysler Group to Cerberus Capital Management, analysts are predicting that an injection of funds from the investment firm could see many popular projects and concepts enter the production pipeline.

The transfer of ownership should be finalized by the third quarter and by that time the upcoming Dodge Challenger will be just around the corner, while several other models should have been given the green light.

Part of Chrysler’s plan is to add 20 new models and 13 major facelifts by the end of 2009, reports Autoweek. Some of the new models include the Challenger, fifth-gen Chrysler minivan, Sebring and Avenger based crossovers and brand new Ram pickup. Out the door are the Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen SUVs, but these may be replaced with several all new models including possible production versions of the Chrysler Imperial and Dodge Demon concepts.

Promises, promises. The promise of an Imperial exites me though as I enjoyed a new one back in 1972 -- I believe it was the last year of the true Imperial before they simply stuck an Imperial badge on a New Yorker. I'll believe it all when I see it.

Perhaps a little more info. Chrysler is being taken private. Just like Ford needs to do. Spend a couple of years on product as their focus....not selling stock and shareholder's interests.

Thats a tall order for a Chrysler. Maybe the analysts should stop predicting what cars are due out in 2009 and work with a new car that would actually sell.

Where/What is the replacement for the 300C? 2005-2008 seems like a normal life cycle for a model. And besides the current model is still decent but it is almost out of gas...

Redo the Sebring as soon as possible. I don't know what the sales of the 300C have been of late but the design can last another 2 years.

I hope with the seperation from Mercedes Chrysler can still concentrate on what their doing and follow through with any good concepts they had in mind. The Imperial seemed kind of tacky but if they execute it right and change up a few styling points it may be a hit like the 300C was when it first came out. It still is a nice car visually but the interior quality is an issue for me. I rented it for a few days when I was waiting for my old car to arrive. It ran smooth but the quality was subpar especially at 45-55K CAD it should have been a bit better than what they offered.

I hope the new models improve quality and quality control should be bumped up as well. OR else how are they going to compete with Cadillac & Lincoln.

chrysler is already way ahead of any "azteclacs"cadillacs,or lincolns since 1993 ,so they don't have to compete with dead brands like that.
