Although this rendering shows the R8 to have a canvas roof, this will most likely not be possible due to current design issues. Speculation says that a targa solution will be most appropriate, reducing the need for large amounts of engineering alterations. The open-top design will compromise the current driving dynamics as a result of reduced body stiffness, however, additional bracing supports will be fitted to somewhat negate this loss.
The new Audi R8 convertible is due mid-2009.
