As you already know by now, Volkswagen has decided to drop the “Rabbit” and bring back the “Golf” nameplate to North America. Today at the 2009 New York Auto Show, the 2010 Volkswagen Golf GTI made that very clear with its first presence on U.S. soil.
Under the hood is 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder unit making 206-hp with a maximum torque of 206 lb-ft. That allows for a 0 to 62 mph run in 6.9 seconds with an electronically-limited top speed of 149 mph.
