According to the latest reports, Hyundai is currently working on a 5.0-liter V8 engine capable to deliver 429 hp at 6500rpm and 376 lb-ft at 5000 rpm.
This means that if the V8 engine will be installed on the Genesis Coupe, than this car will easily take on the 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 which carries 412 hp developed by its 5.0-liter V8. Also, this engine will also be a direct hit to Infiniti which has the 5.6-liter engine developing 420 hp. Hyundai has currently a 4.6-liter engine delivering 375 hp and 333 lb-ft.
