Before Ford gives the Mustang a complete makeover at the 2008 LA Auto Show, Saleen will take one last shot with the 2009 Dark Horse Extreme Edition.

Saleen will build on 25 of the Dark Horse Extreme Edition Mustangs with production to begin Nov. 2008.

With the help of Saleen’s Port Matched Series VI Integrated Screw type supercharger, the Dark Horse makes 620-hp with a maximum torque of 600 lb-ft. The Saleen Dark Horse also comes with forged aluminum pistons, steel connecting rods and a steel crankshaft.

I bet in the near future you will be able to pick exactly how much horsepower you want (I pick 673.5 because I fancy that number) and name your Mustang yourself. They are well on their way to have an unlimited number of varients...

Seems like Ford saw Chevy getting all kinds of props for their upcoming $100k ZR-1 and decided, as a jealous 5 year old would, to shout "Me Too!!" and proceed to unveil its own hastily assembled, 600+hp $100k "supercar" complete with OxCart spec live axle rear suspension setup and the wonderful dollar store black plastic interior we have all come to know and love...
