The first and last time I drove a Jeep Wrangler it was a 2010 four-door Unlimited in a screamin' blue color. It had a manual transmission and it was rugged as hell. Granted, it was the most refined a Wrangler had ever been up until that point.

That still didn't mean it drove well at speed, and didn't sound like you were in an airplane on the highway from all the wind noise. But one thing I did like about it though was how usable it was. It's the kind of vehicle you buy just to beat up and not even think twice. It's the perfect car to take to the beach, get sand all over and just laugh it off.

Also, there's something very masculine and badass about it. I just can't put my finger on it. It's weird to think that this was a cultural icon for high school girls at one point.

Anyway, this brings us to our subject matter. It's a do-it-yourself Mopar kit that takes a four-door Unlimited and morphs it into a two-door pickup.

I never thought I would say this but make mine all black and could someone please retrofit it with a .50 caliber machine gun on top, Terminator style?

Some of you may remember the 2005 Jeep Gladiator concept study for a pickup truck version of the Wrangler, which for many reasons, never came to fruition. But if you happened to like the idea of a light-duty hauler based on the Wrangler, then Jeep may have the answer for you with its new JK-8 Independence package. 

The do-it-yourself Mopar kit allows owners to convert a 4-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited into a two-door pickup truck with seating for two and a pickup style bed. After the conversion, the bed length is 50 inches and the width between wheel wells is 44 inches...
