The Northern Loop of the Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race will start today and Aston Martin will be present on the starting grid with the brand new V12 Vantage coupe, its newest super sports car, which will come in almost standard spec just for the race.

The car will be piloted by Dr. Ulrich Bez, the CEO of Aston Martin together with its engineering team reps. This will be Bez’s fourth successive 24-hour race and he said that this is going to be the toughest engineering durability test for the V12 Vantage project. The car, which was revealed at last month’s Geneva Motor Show, comes with Aston Martin’s well-known 6.0-liter V12 powerplant that can generate 510hp (380kW) and a top torque of 420lb-ft (570Nm). Essential safety revisions, a reduction in weight and retuned suspension without aero improvements are the only distinctions between the new racecar and the production version.
