The closest automotive brand is Mercedes-Benz at #8 and Audi at #11. From the rank list it appears that the last time the list was compiled, BMW was ranked behind Mercedes. The increase in BMW's brand prestige/equity is undoubtedly attributable to BMW's continued position as the top luxury-sporty car maker, record sales this year, larger offering of models, and an increased emphasis on marketing/advertising.
