Congratulations BMW on being the first Automobile manufacturer to win the very prestigious "Best Factory / Industrial Excellence Award 2008" since 2002! Even more impressive that it comes from a FRENCH organization!!

In addition to winning the Bavarian Quality Prize in 2003, Chassis and Driveline Systems was also the first business in the automobile sector to gain Germany's most important award for corporate quality in November 2005 - the Ludwig-Erhard Prize 2005. In 2006, the division received the European Quality Award - the highest European award for universal corporate excellence.

a Germany award given to a German company, how typical.... the so called "jury" are nothing but BMW lobbyists who are paid under the table :) good timing since BMW is expecting a 40% profit loss in 2008.

These coporate awards/recognitions are nothing but product promotional tools they use to hype the brand.

"Nikolaus Bauer, Director Chassis and Driveline Systems Production assesses the effect of gaining the award: "Our application for the Industrial Excellence Award..."

haha that tells the whole story, I bet only BMW applied for this award :) they win by default!

Yes, I agree. Lexus should have won the award again. Their factories are so clean that you can practically eat off the floor. When an employee has to take piss, he is forced to wash his hands six times with some special soap (harmful for the skin) so that that extremely high quality Lexus leather doesn't get stained. Yes, Lexus should have won it again...

it's a french-based group at INSEAD (just outside of paris) that gave the award. (FYI--france is not in germany). and bmw is the only car company to win it in the past 6 years.

oh...and in case you cry bias again...the french aren't exactly fans of the germans. remember that little war?

INSEAD, along with Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar, Germany, developed the "questionnaire" that BMW filled out "nicely" :) i.e., academic exercise nothing more.

Like I said, all in the name of product hype. BMW should actually win the "Brand imaging and Product Hype Award" every year.

Never heard of it. They must be making up awards to give to BMW now. What next, the "Recognition of Achievement in the field of Exellence"?

0.9% financing and throwaway leases doesn't sound like a sustainable strategy to me.

Poor Huey...

Your precious Toyota, I mean Lexus didn't win an award.

Your feelings must be hurt so bad.....

I know you're jealous. I can afford to do more than lease some cheap BMW.

Quantum,
Toyota probably doesn't even know this award existed.

Own my Huu, don't lease.. Your lease conspiracy theory is treading on thin water as of late these days, especially since Toyota and Lex are doing so poorly financially.. Looks like you are going to have to come up with a different defense tactic.

I'm sure you will dream up something, you always seem to know how to spin the facts.. Should have worked for the McCain Party, you would have been good at creating lies.

BMW deserve any awards they win, they make excellent chasis and have good steering unlike Japanese cars, also the quality and in my own case I was a bit concerned about the cost of parts before I bought my BMW, but it is now 12 years old and in the last 12 months I bought 1 indicator light bulb, much cheaper to run than Toyota or Nissan, and before the Lexus fans make a silly comment the prvious year I bought no pats, in fact since I bought it apart from the lightbulb the only other cost was caused by some idiot backing into my car when parked, a new front grill, cheaper than I had expected after being used to the coet of Japanese parts
