When Hyundai starts making $16,000 Accents with: Leather seats, HIDs, Navigations, Alloys, Woodgran/Carbon Grain Interiors, choices of Turbos/Hybrids, etc. That #1 spot will be up for grabs.

seeing that burger flippers, janitors, temps, car wash attendants and paperboys can afford these cheap to lease vehicles. We should just follow EU and use these tin cans for taxis too :)

Interesting to know...how long has BMW been in the game of fine luxury? Compared to Lexus with only 20 years in the game?!?!...It took BMW this long to figure them out? And actually surpass them? The question is, will BMW actually hold this title as long as Lexus or even longer? In this day and age when technological competition has become more advance and easy to aquire from all aspects...THE ANSWSER IS..."BMW's reign will be SHORT LIVED!!!" For now it's a great marketing tactic...that's about it!...LMAO!!!

The finance/lease ratio pretty much says it all. How a lease is considered a sale is beyond me, but thats irrelevant. Year's only half over; BMW can win the sales title if they're willing to sacrifice their brand image, bodes better for Lexus in the longrun, as soon BMW will find itself competing directly with Toyota and wishing for the days when BMW could be mentioned in the same sentence as Lexus.

Wasn't there a previous post stating that BMW buyers are mostly posers? Does this mean that the really rich people who buy Lexus are not spending? Is the recession gone? Is it true that the US economy in terms of car sales do not rely on the real rich (Lexus buyers), but on the posers? I'm confused.

I mentioned it before, BMW carries almost 7 more models of vehicle than Lexus (no, I'm not counting the 335 and 328 as 2 cars, although a 3-series cabrio isn't a 335i sedan), so you need to take that into consideration.

When one company sells 20 models and the other sells 14 yet are only 3k sales ahead, that's not alot to hang your hat on IMHO.

Already saw my first IS-C in showroom yesterday and it looked much better than in pictures. Also i think Lexus sales will soon be helped by IS-C, HS250H, and should quickly come up with updated ES350 and LS460.

This is basically a thread for fanboys. You are basing your entire theory of BMW outselling Lexus off of the first 5 months of the year.

You forget that August and December are still coming up, and Lexus has 2 new models that have not even come out yet, as well as 2 of their most successful cars going through a refresh for the 2010 model year.

If BMW was able to crank out the next gen X3 or 5-Series, yes I would say Lexus has to be worried about losing their top spot this year, but with the economy turning, most people, maybe not on this site, but most people would rather own the Lexus than the BMW if they had the means. Proof is in the sales.

Hyundai already makes Elantras with Leather for less than $18K UAW, its only a matter of time before they do that to Accents. Unlike GM we can make cars with Leather for a lot cheaper.

Why is it that all the "cheap" cars make the highest quality satisfaction lists in certain eras, and then their parent company turned them from cheap mass market cars to cheap luxury cars. Eevery last one of these cars must be damm good for this to happen. Look at your history:

1. Jettas became Audi A3s

2. Corollas Became Lexus IS

But unlike Audi and Lexus the parent company Hyundai has enough balls to slowly turn the entire brand into a premium brand. Then again having KIA helps.
