You guys all know I like to rotate my cars and always be putting something new in the Auto Spies stable.

I just put my 2020 KIA Telluride up for sale and I've been getting a HUGE amount of activity.

Prices are crazy on them and my 1.5 year old Telly with 22k miles are going through dealer auctions for, get this...OVER original MSRP. NOT kidding. The most recent few are closing at $48k at the Manheim auctions.

2020 KIA Telluride for sale

On with the story...

A guy texts me who is interested and we're negotiating price and details and I mention it still has plenty of warranty left.

At that point he says to me that KIA and HYUNDAI warranties are NOT transferable to the second owner!

WHAT? Why had I NEVER heard of that or read any major media calling this out?

I thought to myself he HAD to be wrong so I called my KIA dealer service dept. And the nice lady said sir, he is correct, the 5/60 bumper to bumper warranty goes BYE-BYE.

I said, you mean if I buy a friends used Stinger with 4k miles I'm SOL on warranty? She said that would be correct. There still is the powertrain warranty that no one on earth has ever successfully collected on but that is still there. And I asked is it the same on a used Hyundai? AFFIRMATIVE.

So my question on this fine Sunday is would knowing that TOTALLY take you out of the game of considering a Hyundai or KIA on the used market?

I know it would for me.

Spies, discuss.

BUYER BEWARE! Thinking Of Buying A USED KIA Or HYUNDAI? There's A CATCH. And It's HUGE!
