Because of the ongoing global financial crisis, the 2010 British International Motor Show has been canceled. The organizers of the event did not want to proceed with the motor show against a background of uncertainty. In order to determine a course of action they asked the carmakers if they can commit to the show.
Since the carmakers are unanimously in the middle laying off workers, reducing salaries, lowering working hours and attempting to save cash, it would be truly foolish for them to get on with the show and spend considerable amounts of money at a time like this. So, it was no surprise when they were also unanimous in saying that they cannot commit. The organizers promptly proceeded to cancel the event, saying that they will be back when things get better, although no one knows for sure when that will be.
