Breaking News: Bmw 135i M coming in 2011

As you may know already, yesterday we announced that Bmw is looking at a new M model below the M3, but today we found out more details regarding the upcoming car.

First of all we found out that the demand for the M vehicles dropped this year due to the hard financial times and Bmw was helped only by the M3 – the M5 and M6 recorded poor sales while the introduction of the X5 M and X6 M was too late to have a positive influence on the 2009 sales.

In fact Bmw expects to sell the X5 M and X6 M in the same number of units as the M5. In a recent interview with Auto Motor und Sport, Kay Segler, CEO of M GmbH said that the car which could show an impressive number of sold units could be the 1-Series M, because the market registers a high demand for this type of vehicles.

Sales of the M5, X5M, and X6M are all limited by the price point. They will never be big sellers. However, a 1M would open the doors to M-ownership at a much lower price.

just like it is bad news for the Audi front, that the S3 is quicker than the S4. Or that the TTRS will steal sales away from the S4. You make no sense in your arguement. Would you please come up with some original idea

The M3 is the size and price of what the M5 used to be, so there is room for the 1. The 1 series is closest in size to the E30 models so this isn't far fetched.

While there will always be a strong but limited market for the high price spread, I believe this economic downturn will have a lasting effect and many buyers will be looking for a high quality performance product at a much lower price point for sometime. Car guys want performance but try justifying to your wife and family that they have to cut back due to hard times and higher taxes while you endulge in your high price automobile dreams. Ain't going to happen ! At both the industry level and the home front the market is headed to lower cost, better value performance...its a matter of survival for both.
