It's an age-old debate at this point. If you're looking for a sport sedan, you really have to cross shop several automobiles: first, you set the benchmark with the BMW M3, then you test out the likes of the Audi RS4 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
Of course the BMW is the latest, which means it should trump the other two; however, like all high-performance vehicles it has its upsides AND downsides.
Do you want a throaty six-cylinder or a mean V8 exhaust note? Rear wheel drive? All wheel drive? More restrained styling or something provocative? The list goes on.

A pre-5am start was necessary to get to the photoshoot location you see here at sunrise, so after jumping in the BMW, I set the car’s various driving modes into sport and belted down the twisty road to avoid the dreaded M25 morning traffic.
