CAR WARS! Will The All-New Range Rover Sport Give The 2014 BMW X5 Some Trouble When It Comes To A Face Off?

When I first saw the all-new 2014 BMW X5 in spy shots, the first thing I thought was simple: "OK so BMW is going to do some really light changes for the all-new vehicle." Overall, the shape stays the same and minor updates would include the facade and rear end. There's a saying for the third-gen X5:

"If you loved the second-gen X5, you'll love the third-gen X5."

That's not necessarily a bad thing; however, BMW did play this one safe much like it did when it completely overhauled the 7-Series a couple of years back. It's an incremental improvement but it's certainly not cutting edge or groundbreaking.

And while BMW isn't the first brand to try this methodology out in a redesign — THINK: Porsche 911 and Range Rover — I can't help but look at the all-new Range Rover Sport and feel more lustful for it. And when I look at the all-new flagship Range Rover, there's no question I would be skipping the all-new X5.
