The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in an astonishing time of 7 minutes 29.6 seconds. That’s nearly four seconds faster than the Koenigsegg CCX supercar could manage with an extra 150 horsepower (112 kilowatts) and several hundred pounds less weight.

The ZL1 is powered by a 6.2-liter, supercharged LT4 V8 motor that summons up 650 hp (485 kW) and 650 pound-feet (881 Newton meters) of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual, or brand-new 10-speed automatic gearbox, as used for the Nurburgring lap.
