At last Chrysler has revealed its plan which it submitted to the US Department of Energy amounting to $448 million which outlines its intention of producing electric and plug-in hybrid cars and includes the building of an $83 million facility in Michigan for research and production.
The carmaker and its stakeholders will come up with 50 percent ($224 million) of the budget and, if approved, the US Department of Energy will come up with the remaining 50 percent ($224 million). The $83 million facility is an essential portion of the carmaker’s proposal, since it would create a large number of jobs over the following year. The facility is said to be able to produce 20,000 cars and trucks yearly. Chrysler expects the plant to hasten their work on developing and manufacturing electric and plug-in hybrid EVs, significantly lowering the amount of time for the cars to hit the streets.
