Only a decade ago, the thought of BMW producing an all-electric vehicle didn't seem to be on the radar.

The newly refreshed M3 was tearing up towns and the M5 was about to cease production. Those were the days...

Now though BMW's added the i3 to the lineup. While I think it's safe to say that most folks are stoked to get behind the wheel of the halo i8, most folks will likely behind the wheel of the i3 as its barrier of entry is reasonable.

To be straightforward, I haven't been following the i3. I don't think it's a game changer in the EV market though it is definitely a game changer for BMW. Watch for the EV technology to make its way into standard BMW products.

To give you all the FULL download on the i3 I don't think it will get better than friend, CNET's Brian Cooley. He is thorough, discusses and reviews just about EVERY single element one could ask for — driving dynamics, technology, chassis, etc.

So, if you've been curious about the all-new i3, this is likely your best shot at giving the vehicle a proper chance. Take a look at Cooley's review below.

The BMW i3: a savvy step into the future, or just not a BMW? CNET's Brian Cooley checks the tech on this new electric car.
