For years we've made a point of being especially critical of Honda's premier nameplate in The States, Acura. Not only is it because its products have consistently underperformed when other luxury marques are innovating, but also because we used to love the brand.

With past products like the NSX and Legend, we were big fans of the "A" brand. Now we're just calling it as we see it and the fanbois get pissed.

Well, guess what? Other reviewers are finally starting to come clean about Acuras problems if the gradually dwindling sales figures didn't already point to a problem with its sedans.

Check out what The New York Times had to say about the all-new Acura in its latest review. Long story short, the car is priced a bit more reasonably than its competitors and it shows. Key features that can be had in other products are simply not available and, essentially, it drives like a Honda.

I'd hardly call it a glowing review.




Honda knows how to bake sportiness into a chassis, and the TLX drives like a really nice Honda...

...But to run with Audi, BMW, Cadillac and the newly aggressive Lexus, Acura might try putting the passion of their ads into the car...

...Pricing for the TLX starts at $31,900, and it comes loaded at $45,600. That reasonable price could withstand a slight increase to pay for the luxury goodies the car needs. It’s as if the product planners at Acura believe that buyers don’t need such frills. And perhaps we don’t. But we want them, don’t we? Promising thrills, Acura delivers understatement and logic.
