Toyota's entry-level division, Scion, was one of those manufacturers we had tremendous hope. Its products were funky, interesting and gained a lot of attention. At first, at least.

In recent years the company has stalled a bit as its vehicles have been struggling to connect with consumers. While the FR-S gave the company a boost, the days of its products — like the tC — being found in many 18-25 year old's driveway are long over.

Toyota isn't sitting on its behind though. The company has decided to repurpose the Auris found abroad for the U.S. market. Dubbed the iM, it's a hatchback that has a bit of funk in its handsome design. To me, it's very Subaru Impreza meets Mazda 3.

That's not a bad thing.

So, what's it really like though? Well, our friends at AutoGuide recently had some wheel time and gave its very first impressions. It may not be a sports car enthusiast's dream — what economy car is? — but there's an ass for every seat.

Don't mind the geeky reviewer doing his best attempt to be funny with far too many hipster cracks.

Born in Japan and raised in Europe, the 2016 Scion iM is primed to make its North American debut. Ready or not, this multicultural hatchback is on its way, but are company executives off their rocker thinking it’s a legitimate rival to established nameplates?
