If you can't afford the likes of a Ferrari, what's the next best thing? Until recently, your next best bet was snapping up a Maserati Gran Turismo. But, Alfa Romeo had something else in store.

That would be the super small, lightweight and back-to-basics 4C.

Constructed with a slew of carbon fiber and boasting looks that would bring any automotive enthusiast to their knees, it's the kind of vehicle that you instantly fall in love with. But, as you may suspect with anything of the Italian persuasion, there is a catch.

Alfa Romeo really isn't playing around when it comes to building something that's Spartan. With the 4C, the company really took it to another level.

Take, for example, the fact that the front hood does not open, there is no glovebox and there's three to four feet of cargo space in the trunk — next to the exposed engine.

Just how bad is it? Well, we'll let Doug DeMuro explain.

Clearly, the 4C was built for those who pack light and are built on the smaller side of the spectrum.

Today, I'm going to find out if you can daily drive an Alfa Romeo 4C. (Doug DeMuro)
