General Motors Co. is boosting incentives on its plug-in hybrid Chevrolet Volt to help reduce inventory that has swelled to more than 4.5 months, and as it prepares to start production on the 2014 model.
Chevrolet spokeswoman Michelle Malcho on Monday said GM has a 140-day supply of the Chevy Volt. That’s more than double the supply analysts say is healthy.
The Detroit automaker is offering $5,000 off 2012 Volts and $4,000 off 2013 Volts, Malcho said. The deals lower the price of the Volt from its suggested retail price of $39,995; buyers also can qualify for up to $7,500 in federal income tax credits.
