BMW has said it is planning a follow-up to the 5-Series Gran Turismo with a new hatchback based on the 3-Series. The 335i Gran Turismo is due to go on sale in 2011 and will be priced between the 3-Series and the 5-Series. The idea is to take on Audi's successful A4 Avant models.2009 Frankfurt Auto Show Photo GalleryAutoSpies.com Photo GalleriesIf you want to see your photos running on our homepage photo ticker, be sure to upload your photos on the go by sending them to Mobile@AutoSpies.com Share on FacebookThere are photos and then there are AutoSpies.com photos!AutoSpies.com is ranked number one on Google search for auto showsThe 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show gallery is sponsored by Lexus.Read Article

With every new BMW vehicle announcement, I lose more and more of what enthusiasm I once had for this brand. The exterior designs, interior styling, new body types, iDrive, runflats, no spare tire and overall image of this marque all fail to capture my interest now. They've also lost any sense of exclusivity, now becoming a sort-of German Buick. — 204E60 (View Profile)

^^ he meant in terms of how they are so prominent on the street that BMW has become an "everyman" brand now. 328's are everywhere. They are what every badge whoring 20 something kid buys when they get their first raise after college. Not that it takes away from the car, but it takes away from the brand. Unfortunately, without that mystique, it becomes harder to convince buyers to pay the price premium even if it drives fantastic. Most BMW buyers really don't buy it for the driveability and won't push the car enough to take advantage of it's driving advantages. They pay the premium for this European brand to impress their friends at the grocery store and work. They buy the badge. Unfortunate, because BMW really does still make a very good drivers car for the price.— SpicyMikey (View Profile)

I have to agree with 204E60's comments, and I have 2 "Bangle-free" BMWs in the garage. If I had to buy a new car today, BMW does not offer anything that interests me. But that's deliberate. BMW chose to redirect the brand at a younger crowd, leaving the "old timers", those being traditional BMW enthusiasts, out in the cold.It was a conscious and deliberate decision by BMW. And it seems to have paid off with an increase in unit sales, and having won the admiration of young drivers.— Steve (View Profile)

BMW has always been a innovative, performance oriented company and I love how they continue this by creating new and innovative products. BMW is challenging, cultured, and dynamic. This car will be a joy to drive, be elegant in its executiion, and may well challenge your preconceptions. BMW is for the open-minded and creative among us. Not everyone will or shouild "get" it.— NannerPus (View Profile)

finally someone who gets it!!! . Most people just can't look outside their own little comfort zone. If you dont like the product that BMW is bringing out, then dont buy it. I completely agree & am very excited to see their New innovations on style and performance. I have to say that the 550GT is a stunning looking vehicle in person. — BMW4me4ever (View Profile)

I would get it. I love my 335i sedan, but i wanted a 335i wagon, or a 135i hatch, but i will wait for the 3series GT to come out, if it is offered with the N54 engine.— 2ndbimmer (View Profile)

The 3 series hatchback will sell well in Australia and South East asia. I think its a brliant move by BMW since thats where the demand is. Americans need not be worried. I doubt the hatchback will make its way there. — darzav (View Profile)

BMW doesn't need any of this sh!t they've been producing lately. Whatever happened to BMW being a focused brand? With all these new ugly and worthless offerings, BMW will no longer be associated with auto enthusiasts. — henbmw (View Profile)
