It is a given the the US is the number one market for Lexus. But where are the number two and three markets?
Japan? Nope.
Germany? Surely you jest.
Italy? Not even close.
According to Automotive News the UK is the strongest market outside the US followed closely by Russia. Russia is growing at such an astonishingly rate that it will become the second largest market for Lexus worldwide, maybe as early as this year.
“For Lexus, Russia is a very rich market, as the center of gravity of our sales are the GS sedan and the RX premium SUV,” Says Thierry Dombreval, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Toyota Motor Europe. “Our new LS flagship was very well received in Russia and we expect it to further enrich our sales mix this year.”
Last year, Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus sold 10,065 units in Russia, making it the brand’s No. 2 market after the UK.
