A new study which is to be published this week show that Some new green cars are more polluting than the same models were five years ago.
Car manufacturers are being urged to make further progress in cutting CO2 emissions and reducing pollutants according to the latest report from EcoTest, the FIA Foundation’s comprehensive environmental assessment program for vehicles.
The greatest improvements were found in Opel/Vauxhall Zafira 1.7 CDTi and Peugeot 307 which both gained two stars in the EcoTest rating.
Among the worst offenders are cars from Renault, Honda and Daihatsu, all manufacturers that claim strong green credentials.
Study didn’t include hybrid cars, which are expected to be retested in the next year and which scored more than 80 points last time.
