Since the Auto Industry has existed for more than 100 years now, it is not a common occurrence that someone will come up with something that can be considered a first. Acura, however, has for the first time ever attained top scores in IIHS and NHTSA safety ratings remarkable both as a first and for safety of the car as well.

The last car to score at the top was the latest 2009 Acura TL. All of Acura’s cars are now certified as ‘Good’ (IIHS) and 5-star (NHSTA NCAP), both top scores possible in the US. But there is a footnote to this grand performance: Acura is not considered a full-line car manufacturer in league with BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Lexus. Acura has only five models which, considering the model lineup of the other carmakers, is nothing but just a drop in the bucket. But again, with the recent increase in the safety standards and regulations, Acura has showed itself to have the most technologically advanced cars in term of safety features.
