If its proposed partnership with Chrysler LLC is complete, Fiat will speed up the export of some European-built cars to the United States in an attempt to set the stage for a possible U.

S. production around mid-2011.

For anyone confused as to what an Alfa 940 is, it's an Alfa 149 which will replace the current Alfa 147 by 2010.

Now that I read the whole article I wouldnt get my hopes up. I like that Fiat is coming back to the US but its using a shitty Chrysler platform. I hope this does not hurt Fiats image and not have the handling of an suv.

So Alfa may use the hand-me-down 300 platform which was a hand-me-down from the E class. So a 2011? Alfa would use a 1997? E Class platform. Looks like Alfa is going to do just as well this time as they did before. :( I know the decision is not final, but who comes up with this stuff?

Having the best handling front wheel drive car on th planet is sorta like being the best Ice Hockey player in south America. If handling is a priority why would anyone want FWD? I raced cars for years and won ametuer championships in both FWD and RWD cars. You can certainly make FWD cars go reasonbly fast but they simply aren't balanced and are not as much fun. The problem in my opinion is that nobody makes a RWD coupe under that isn't an overweight tank these days. I would consider dumping my RSX type S and buying an RX-8 if it wern't for the piece of crap Rotary. If I could swap in the speed three motor............
