FoMoCo’s much-touted EcoBoost system will go on sale next year and will be available on the Lincoln MKS sedan and Ford Flex crossover. FoMoCo says that it will charge a premium of around $700 when the engine is available in 2009.
The 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine produces a total of 340-hp and 340 lb-ft of torque. Ford says that EcoBoost technology, which combines turbocharging and direct-injection allows for a 20 percent better fuel-economy and the performance of a V8. FoMoCo is hoping that it can soon replace V8s with V6s and V6s with 4-cylinder turbo engines.
