One might think of Head of Design for the Audi brand as a dream job. Not so fast though. Audi is one of the most respected marques on the market when it comes to design integrity. Though glamorous and rewarding, penning the next Audi and managing the studios and artists behind these beautiful cars requires a fair degree of skill, an eye for beauty and a mind for diplomacy. No matter, German-born Stefan Sielaff is up for the task, bestowed with the role at the helm of Audi AG’s design department.

Recently, Sielaff was kind enough to spend some time giving a behind-the-scenes description of what goes in to just such a position, along with the good, the bad and the ugly of designing an Audi.
