General Motors Co.

said Thursday it had reached an agreement with Hewlett-Packard Co. to move about 3,000 HP employees already running GM's information technology operations onto the automaker's payroll at no additional cost to GM.

Under the terms of the agreement, the workers will become employees of GM within the next six months, said GM Chief Information Officer Randy Mott.

GM said it reached new multi-year project services and software contracts with HP, though both sides declined to provide details on the exact length or cost of the contracts.
