General Motors Corp announced it is exploring the sale of the ACDelco parts provider as it continues to weigh capital-raising and cost-cutting steps.
The auto maker is trying to boost liquidity by $15 billion by the end of 2009 and is reviewing a number of steps, including the potential sale of its Hummer brand.
ACDelco provides parts and associated services in more than 100 countries and employs 600 people. Merrill Lynch & Co. (MER) will assist GM in the effort, which GM said is expected to "promote more rapid growth" of the brand globally.
