GM kills the Cadillac STS-V and Pontiac G6 GXP

With Pontiac gone, isn't killing the G6 GXP already done?

The STS has long been the odd man out when it comes to mid-size luxury sedans.

The current STS hasn't been selling too well. It's exterior design looks good, but the interior fails to live up to expectations, especially since the CTS has a better interior, and is it's 2nd Gen (as the CTS---although CTS stands for Catera Touring Sedan, which means this is it's 3rd gen).

And then there is the placement. The STS is placed in the US as a mid sized lux sedan, doing battle with the 5 series, when in fact it is more of a full size lux vehicle, and the CTS is the real 5 series fighter. So this weird and unthought out way of marketing, packaging has not been in the STS favor at all.

As for the G6 GXP, I have never seen one.

read the article guys... it's only the V version of the STS that will be canceled. Canceling the STS would be stupid since they need a nice bigger CTS to compete with the Germans. But.. not the current one.

So they're killing the G8 along with Pontiac, and they're cancelling the Impala SS... It would be a mistake not to have a $30k performance sedan in the lineup. I hope they are planning to convert the G8 into a Chevy to replace the Impala, with an SS model too. While they're at it, the G8's interior could use an available navigation system and Ipod integration, too.

DTS aka new Deville, marketed for retired 75 year olds who recognize the brand name and only buy american products. CTS is German Opel based, for younger audience, directly aimed to compete with the midsize 5 series,
e-class, a6, lexus gs. There is a Cadillac BTS!! Google it (Europe Only) which targets the 3 series but sales are so poor for Cadillac they were smart enough not to bring it to the US.
