In order to streamline its models across its brands GM is getting rid of its poorly performing sports models.

Two casualties in the GM streamlining list are the Impala SS version for 2010 and the 2010 Cobalt sedan which the company will no longer be offering.

There will still be two more models in danger of shelving for 2010: the Cadillac STS-V, the high performance version of the STS line, and the Pontiac G6 GXP. Also in the firing line are the Cobalt SS Coupe and HHR SS Panel, but are expected to stay until the end of this year or at least early next year. The sales performance of the 470hp (350kW) Cadillac STS-V was very poor, which many say is due to its enormous $80,000 retail price. To replace the STS-V as the performance flagship for Cadillac will be the more reasonably priced and high performing CTS-V.
