The General will be cutting production of the vehicle that is often cited as a proof of recession, the Chevrolet Corvette. Confirming with Automotive News, GM will halt production of the Corvette for a week starting Oct. 6. It will then reduce the assembly line speed and lay off some employees.
“We’ve weathered a lot of downturns,” Eldon Renaud, president of UAW Local 2164 in Bowling Green told Automotive News. “But I think this one has finally lasted long enough and people are concerned enough about the economy that it’s probably having a minor effect.”
