Demand is starting to flag in Germany as a deepening downturn in southern and western Europe is now weighing on the German economy.

BMW, Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen AG's Audi face weaker demand in China, too, where the gap between growth rates for luxury and mainstream vehicle sales has shrunk significantly.
