As you may know already, the Honda NSX was canceled (or is in standby, we don’t know for sure because the manufacturer wants to keep things secret) while the S2000 is reaching the end of production (S2000 Ultimate Edition was revealed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show) which means that the Japanese car manufacturer has currently no sports model in its range of products. Ok no don’t get sad because Honda is currently preparing two new sports cars! One is the CR-ZX, which apparently will be something like a sporty Insight because it will use the hybrid technology in combination with a direct-injection 2.5-liter engine.
The other model will be a successor of the Honda S200, dubbed FF-S2000 by Japan’s Best Car Magazine, which apparently will use a 3.5-liter V6 engine and the 4WD technology, which means that it will be a direct competitor to the Nissan GT-R. It appears that this vehicle will also carry the new KERS technology installed to the 2009 lineup of F1 challengers. For those who don’t know how this works, here it is: when the car utilizes the brake system, the energy that is produced is channeled to the IVT (infinitely variable transmission) and is utilized to spin the flywheel up to 64,000 rpm; when the car accelerates thereafter, the stored energy is released to provide a bump in power and boost energy efficiency. For the moment these are the only data available but as soon as we will find out something we will let you know!
