It appears that Kia Motors has big plans and wants to change U.S. lineup nomenclature from product names to alphanumerics.

These words came from Hyundai Motor Co. Vice Chairman Chung Eui-sun. For those who don’t know, Kia’s lineup in South Korea and other markets is already partially alphanumeric. For example, in Korea the mid-sized sedan based on what was known as the Optima carries the K5 nameplate while the large sedan known as Cadenza in some markets is named the K7. The new Forte is likely to become the K3.
