When BMW builds an M model, the anticipation of its debut builds great excitement. Spy photos are posted everywhere, spies do their best to figure out the specs from VIN numbers and there are plenty of videographers waiting to catch a glimpse with their lens on the world famous Nurburgring.

Finally the BMW M4 Concept was revealed at the 2013 Monterey Weekend. As anyone would expect, our very own Agent 001 was on the scene and captured the BEST and most detailed shots. We relish in the fact we got the set of shots up first while everyone else was busy at the bar.

And now there's some controversial news making its way to the surface. According to Carscoops, BMW filed images with the European patent office in August.

From what we can tell from the handful of shots, it looks exactly like the concept seen at Monterey Weekend. The intakes, front valence, rear diffuser, mirrors and "sharkfin" all are there.

That leads me to a couple conclusions, which is sub-optimal.

1) These patent images are of the M4 Concept — this has been done before by other automakers.

2) The production vehicle will look precisely like the concept — this is not a ridiculous claim considering the past several generations of products (THINK: E46, E92) were the concept car.
