Lexus LF-A supercar will hit the streets in 2010! What if it will look like this?

With a development period of almost 10 years, it appears that the Lexus supercar dubbed the LF-A will finally enter production after this year’s Tokyo Motor Show! According to Japan’s Best Car Magazine, the new vehicle will carry a 5.

0-liter engine capable to develop around 550 hp.

Regarding the design of the car, it seems that this will be very close to the concept, but with minor adjustments such as redesigned air intakes and a new rear wing spoiler which, just like the one found on the Porsche 911 series, is activated after the car reaches 80 km/h. The Lexus supercar, will be produced in a very limited edition of just 500 units, while 120 units will be delivered in Japan! Deliveries are expected to start in mid-2010! Not the best looking design, kinda Porsche ugly. I'm looking forward in Toyota finally having a proper sport car.

Dude, Porsche's are ugly. Let me be more specific. The 911 derived models have never, ever done anything for me. The Boxster has been successful because it aims at a younger buyer, the 9's are middle-aged, mid-life crisis machines. They perform like no other, engineered as well, but they are ugly, bugged eyed, largely derived from the first VW Bug and frankly sounds like it. I could never understand how the sound of a vehicle that reminds me of an old Beetle is attractive. (Subjectively speaking and I do have that right) Aston Martins are beautiful, Ferrari's as well and so are Bugatti's and Bentley's. One man's opinion, my money spent on what I like.

If you think its ugly, thats fine. It just means I will not have to worry about you being a fellow Porsche driver.

It keeps Porsche drivers less "diluted" if you will.

Inspirion7... you certainly do have the right to your point-of-view re: what constitutes "ugly"... but you should at least learn that the plural of any car brand does not require an apostrophe. Just add the "s." It's Ferraris. Not Ferrari's; Betnleys, not Bentley's, etc. At least then you won't look stupid espousing your opinion.

No harm ThierryHenry14 but to say " Less diluted" by someone that doesn't like the car? That was a very emotional and illogical statement without merit. What now I'll be banded from going to Angels games even though I'm a Dodgers fan? That is the type of comparison I would level this statement to. Please guys grow up. you identity is beyond your car. you will realize this when you get out of high school.

Porsche is not ugly. It is a classic in its own way and might not excite you as it has been around forever.

As depicted in that pic/illustration, it looks like little more than some ordinary GT festooned with an aesthetically questionable US 350.00 wide-body kit brought off of Ebay.

Maybe the finished product will be better realized, but I don't find this particularly pleasant.

This looks even worse then the early concept that was shown. That had a little more elegance to it, but I don't even know what to classify this as; which is probably why it took them so long. They didn't know whether to make this into a hard core sports car, or luxury sports car, or supercar. It's a complete mess.

LFA posted better lap times than the Porsche. Oh, and the Porsche is not the kind you can buy. It's a tuned race car. The LFA? pretty much production.

reliability was the problem for the LFA, since both of them spent about 6 hours in the garage and raced for only 18 hours. Hence the finish.

Where did you get the info that the LF-A was quicker than the 911? It was actually 20 seconds slower. And it definitely was not completely stock.

Reliability is quite important in a race. Can't win if you aren't racing, certainly very important aspect of a race car.

Porsche has actually sold more 911 Cup/GT3 cars than Lexus has sold LF-As.

I'm really excited about the LFA. It was posting lap times similar to what Porsche RSR and R8 LMS got, both modified race cars whereas LFA is pretty much production trim.

And the LFA was considerably faster than the Aston Martin V12 Vantage.

This will be a great car.

if you consider 9:01 and 8:50 similar to 8:36 and 8:38, then yes, it is similar. Then calculate that they are losing about 20s per lap, multiply by 150 laps, you get the LF-A losing by about 50 min in 24hrs. Thats a lot of time...

btw, GT3s and R8s are race modified versions of their production street siblings. LF-A, well, it has to be made into a production car before you can make those comments. And for your information, the ADAC will not allow a street version of the LF-A into the race. It would have to be modified.

Please tell me this is a photoshop. Some of the more recent black spy shots were nicer than this. These "new" headlights are hideous.

On a side note.... where is everyone getting these lap times and info for the nurburgring this past weekend? I can't seem to find full results.

It took Lexus "ten years to develop" the LF-A and it came in 87th place at the 24 hour Nurburgring race - where it was off the track for 6+ hours due to a host of mechanical problems. What a joke!!! (and it looks like godzilla on wheels)...LOl.

Looking for aftermarket (bodykits)?

Ugly and still no proof that it can play with the big boys. Yet not even in production. But at least round about the 139th time that we hear it will go into production. Do they think if you talk long enough about doing something, it will finally just happen?

Only a story to keep fanboys happy dreaming, or alternatively start a little flame war ...

what's with the hate? Lexus, the conservative brand that never made a sport car suddently does, and you still make fun of them? Acura and Infiniti are the supposed luxury sport makers from Japan. Do you see them making cars like IS-F and LFA? Nope.

LFA looks like a great car. The R8 can't even hang with the V6 GT-R. But I don't see you making fun of it.

The GT-R is a phenomenal car, The R8 is a great build, very solid, and still very fast. I am a proud R8 owner, it's no slouch. LF-A is pricing this car too high. It's good they are only making 500, because to convince people to pay that hefty price for a Lexus is going to be a tough task.

Anyways, the LF-A sounds nice but doesn't look as nice as it sounds. Unfortunate but what can we do? The Japs are known to outsource their parts to tuner companies to make kits for the cars.

noone says the R8 is a slouch. neither is the IS-F or LF-A clearly, even if LF-A falls behind the 911 RSR by 20 seconds a lap in the ring. But you make fun of the LF-A, though I don't hear you making fun of the entire BMW //M and Audi RS lines that get their asses handed to them by the V6 Nissan GT-R.

I would think you would know this but Acura doesn't exist outside the US (they are tarted up Hondas made only for the states) and likewise with Infiniti which is rebadged Nissans. Nissan makes the GT-R, which is a terribly awesome car, and Honda/Acura made and sold the NSX. Both cars were wicked fast for their times.

Lexus STILL hasn't produced the LF-A, nor has it talked about any production specs. Right now it is vaporware, it doesn't exist, it is NOTHING!

No hate - just facts (not in production yet, no threat to the big boys up to now) mixed with my 2 cents (ugly).

As a car enthusiast I enjoy every contender, and especially so in the high performance segment. But (and here comes the reason why I am a little bit cross with the lexus guys) I am sick and tired of reading since quite a few years, what they will be able to do, once they finally complete development and start to produce that thing. That is what annoys me.

The cars that the LF-A is compared to are IN production. They are developed, and you can actually BUY them. Now, to take somehting that is not available to anybody yet - except some special engenieers at Toyota -and claim that it is (will) be better than these, is in my eyes an affront to any intellectual person.

Urm, Nice car and all. Who is the market? Luxury company, sports car? I wouldnt mind seeing an overpower luxury saloon. Then again, Audi did that with their R8 and that is a sucess, the thing is, Audi have always participated in racing events, like BMW and Mercedes.

The LF-A is like the "7 Faces of Dr. Lao". A quick search reveals multiple different looks. It's almost as if the designers can't make up their mind.

The one pictured above is definitely the ugliest of the bunch.

If you guys are commenting on how ugly the car is...well the Enzo would never win a Beauty pageant...with that half beaver/half anteater look. And the M6/6 series looks like a anteater as well, or that droopy nosed aardvark from the Pink Panter Cartoons. Odd, how the Lexus LF-A (no it's not pretty) and the Enzo were both styled by Japanese designers...Makes you think.

I happen to like the BMW 6 series. But then again I liked the BMW 8 series as well. As for the Enzo, it is a race car for the streets. The LF-A is trying to be something more than that.

Prefer angular design/sheet metal of original prototype. Saw it up close at Detroit auto show a couple years back. Raw and perfect. Now it looks like an ugly version of a F430 on the sides. On the front, the bottom spoiler looks like sh1t and the headlights are far more pedestrian as compared with the original prototype. I'll take a GT-R over this any day.
