Lexus RX hybrid may be built in Canada

The RX line of SUVs has been Lexus' best-selling luxury utility vehicle since its launch in 1998, and the new generation takes the vehicle into a larger, more powerful realm, while at the same time adding new efficiency-enhancing measures in the hybrid model.



Currently, the RX SUV range is manufactured in Japan but it’s been speculated recently that Lexus is considering building the RX 450h petrol-electric hybrid in Canada.

The Woodstock Ontario plant is new and currently manufacturing Lexus, this is a good fit and keeps jobs in North America. This is a great move. The Woodstock plant has the technology and room to add the RX Hybrid. Quality Control out of Woodstock has been at-par with Japanese factories.

Pageman,
No, the Woodbridge plant was built to assemble RAV4s. The Cambridge plant builds the RX.

The RX has been built in Cambridge for about 4+ years now.

Mitchel,
What a crock, cars built by uneducated Germans. The German University system is one of the crappiest in the Western world, 12-18 courses constitutes a program, in Canada that's barely a College diploma. Real University degrees require upwards of 40 courses. Then there's the lack of Masters programs in Germany as well. The worst part is there's practically no research being done.
