Lutz: Insignia will be the basis for the next Saturn Aura with different looks
Speaking at the launch of the Opel Insignia at the British International Motor Show, Maximum Bob Lutz said that the new model will be the basis of the next-generation Saturn Aura. According to AutoWeek, the two cars will share the same suspension, powertrain and chassis, but the Aura will have a completely differnet skin and interior. Does that mean that it’ll look completely different from the Opel Insignia? We certianly hope it’s not a drastic change.

“We’ve researched the Insignia around the world, including the U.S., as an internationally spectacular new design, but the Saturn version will be its own car,” said Lutz.

Lutz also said that there will be no...

NO! Adopt the Opel insignia and Change the brand to Opel also. The Opel logo looks a lot better. I feel so strongly about this that, If i were to buy a Saturn, I would remove the insignia and get an Opel insignia from Germany and install it on my Saturn.

Why would you want to change a damn thing?

This thing looks incredible.

Personally I am not loving the center stack. It just has to many little buttons (that likely feel the same). I am sure the nav option takes care of that but still it just doesn't look easy to use.

I'm sorry, but letting GM U.S. change this cars exterior is like leaving a 3 year old with a box of crayons, and a Van Gogh. I'm looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

Actually steve, the Malibu has won almost universal praise for it's exterior and interior design. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder so lets not debate what is the best. The midsize sedan class is not only the most competitive in the US but also has many great options: Accord, Malibu, Fusion, and VW's Passat all offer unique and well applied styling. I do think most would agree that the Camry is the odd looking one of the bunch (despite selling well).

I knew it. They always fiddle around with the cars before bringing them here (current Aura's like that). The only reason the Astra was brought over nearly unchanged (but with a weak engine and lame 4 speed auto) was because it could be brought over quickly with minimal modification to fill the compact car gap.

The only reason the Sky and Vue are the same as the Euro versions is because they were partly/mostly designed in the States.

I would've applauded GM for bringing over the Insignia as is, but I'm not surprised they aren't. And they wonder why they're not doing well.
