It wasn't too long ago that MINI was poking fun at "going MAXI," then they did with the all-new Countryman. Now, however, the firm looks like it is planning a city car to go back to its roots of the original Cooper.

Dubbed the Rocketman, this car is sized between the original MINI and the new Cooper. So, it's not the biggest vehicle on the block.

From the looks of it, you can tell this is a highly stylized concept. Notice the extensive use of carbon fiber, Alcantara and real metal.

Probably the coolest aspect of the Rocketman is how it brings MINI's design into the future without forgetting where it came from. If we didn't tell you, at first glance you'd recognize this car is still a MINI; however, it is differentiated enough from the original and current generation vehicles that it has it's own "look."

Well played, MINI.
