General Motors and Chrysler have both announced major incentives to try to help move some inventory off dealers lots and I am sure Ford will follow suit shortly, but honestly, DOES ANYONE REALLY CARE?

Let's face it, with $4.00 gasoline at the pumps, and housing worries coupled with employment concerns, is now the time to be considering that new car?  More importantly than that, do the Big Three really make a car that is appealing right now given the economic state of our country?

For me the only Chrysler cars that I find appealing are the Challenger SRT-8 and the Charger SRT-8, but the Challenger is sold out and they both drink gas as if it was going out of style.

I hate to say it, but right now the smaller more fuel efficient offerings from Toyota, Honda and Nissan certainly deserve a good look, and am the only one whose noticed the new BMW commercials that focus on fuel efficiency.  The local ad touts several models capable of 28 MPG, obviously referring to the 128i and 328i.

I for one happen to be an optimist and believe that oil will settle back down.  While I am doubtful that $2.00 a gallon gas will be returning any time soon, I am OK with gas hovering around $2.75-$3.15 a gallon.  But is this current run up in fuel enough to wake up our nation as to the fact that we rely on people who hate us for energy, and will it be enough of a catalyst to start looking towards energy independence?

That is the question only time can answer, in the meantime if you have the means, you can get a heck of a deal on car or truck of your choosing with some great incentives thrown in.

Hey, while you are lamenting the cost of gas be sure to check out the Mercedes Fashion Show Gallery.
