We already knew that the upcoming Mercedes-AMG hypercar would use a hybrid system drawing on technology used in the German automaker’s Formula 1 car. Rumor had it that the engine itself would be based on that in the race car, as well. But AMG boss Tobias Moers seems to have admitted that the car will use an actual F1 engine.

Speaking to Caradvice.com.au, he said: "We’re not talking about "inspired." Since 2014, F1 has used 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 engines backed up with a hybrid system fed by kinetic and heat energy recovery systems.
