The latest issue of Motor Trend (Oct. 2006) that I received yesterday is reporting that the IS500 is to have "well over 400hp" from an enlarged version of the LS460's 4.6 li V8. The same magazine has a detailed report on the LS460 and specifically its all new a very technically advanced V8.
Given that the LS460 weighs in the neighborhood of 4400 lbs and does 60 in 5.4 seconds with 380 hp 4.6li V8, MT is stating that with "well over 400hp" and a much lighter IS, Toyota is about to introduce the fastest car it has ever built.

They also remark on the beefy hood, the massive brakes, the 19 inch BBS alloys and the Quad exhaust.

If the handling of the IS500 is as good as the goodies it carries, it should be an awesome machine indeed.

MT also states that a coupe and a convertible versions would be next for the IS.

I can hardly wait for the Paris Auto show to begin in September. Go Lexus!
