While perusing the 2019 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) photo gallery and reviewing the vehicles that debuted during yesterday's event, I had a realization. In fact, I can't believe it took me this long. I guess that's to be expected when you're running and gunning.

From where I am sitting, it looks like Nissan and Infiniti essentially badge engineered both of their concepts.

While the Nissan IMs is considered an "elevated sports sedan," the Infiniti QX Inspiration — you know, the vehicle that died before getting on stage yesterday — is a proper sport-utility vehicle. But after comparing the images of both vehicles, inside and out, it looks to me like they're the same.

They're just reskinned.

On the insider the similarities are readily apparent. Just look at dashboard screens, steering wheels and rear seating.

Sure, there's minor differences in terms of configurations and material choices, but they're awfully similar. I actually do like the QX Inspiration's application of marble and rose gold accents — it reminds me of a recent stay at the Four Seasons in San Francisco.

Given the amount of design horsepower at Nissan though, shouldn't we expect MORE?

What say you, Spies? Are these two vehicles badge engineered and should Nissan have tried harder to differentiate these two concepts?
