Though the AutoSpies.

com head honcho Agent 001 had the chance to see the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette in person at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, it was my first time seeing it in the flesh at the 2013 New York Auto Show. And, my my, Chevrolet must have been listening when I said make my Night Racing Blue.

I kid.

Displaying both a removable hard-top coupe and the Geneva-revealed convertible, Chevrolet certainly wanted to give the Big Apple a taste of what's to come. But what really impressed 001 and myself was the interior on the convertible. While it's patently obvious that General Motors stepped up the quality of interior — not that it was hard to do — what REALLY impressed us the usage of materials AND color scheme.

Someone's been studying over at GM's design center.

To display a dark blue and cocoa interior is a move that Audi or Porsche would make, not Chevrolet. Where the hell is that red on red Corvette it initially was touting around? Frankly, I dig this blue/dark brown scheme and I know 001 was surprised as he kept noting how Chevrolet did a "really nice job," and kept remarking about the suede and how it reminded him of his 911, which had a cocoa interior.

On the surface of things, with the 2014 'Vette on paper and from what we're seeing in New York, I think it's safe to say that the Corvette has turned the corner. With the C6 Z06 and ZR1 it was tough to find a better fun/$ spent quotient and now Chevrolet appears to be tying up the loose ends.

Now. If only Chevrolet could do the same for the rest of its lineup. is ranked #1 on Google for auto show photos!
