While the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible is not much of a surprise given how long it's taken to go from concept to reality, we're now faced with the prospect of these things hitting showrooms. Looking at this from a 30,000-foot perspective, it's tough to get a read on the success or failure of this sport-utility vehicle convertible.

There's a couple reasons for this.

2016 New York Auto Show

First, the SUV convertible market hasn't been especially strong. While we know that SUVs are hot items, especially in the luxury space, offering in a super niche way is a bit tricky.

Second, Range Rovers are a hot ticket. Whether it's the Evoque or the long wheelbase big daddy, buyers are clamoring to get their hands on them. While it's easy to point to the Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet's failure, you have to recall that vehicle didn't have the looks or cachet to pull it off. The Land Rover, on the other hand, does.

That said, before going any further, we wanted to take the Spies' temperature: Would YOU rate the all-new Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible two thumbs UP or DOWN?
