Skoda’s most definitely an auto brand on the move upwards.
Currently the Czech brand sells 4 models in Western Europe; the light car Fabia (Mk.II from 2007), the Roomster small MPV (Mk.I from 2006), Octavia medium hatchback sedan & wagon (current generation from 2004) and the Large Superb sedan (current generation from 2008).
UK Car Magzine Car has just released a document on Skoda’s future model plans. According to Car, the next new model to arrive will be the Yeti, a light Crossover model first shown in Concept form back in 2003. Car believe the production model will be displayed at next years Geneva Motor Show before going on sale shortly after in Europe. It will be based on part Polo and part Golf platform rather than the larger Tiguan SUV which will help keep pricing low.
Whilst Car has a history of being a very credible source, Skoda Australia boss Matthew Wiesner has been quoted in the September 5th edition of AdNews, an Australian Advertising publication, as saying that Skoda Australia will launch a new model that has yet to be announced. “That car will be launched globally at an auto show in Paris on 3 November.” Wiesner declined to confirm the details of the car but said the Australian launch “will be significant for Skoda”...
