New interior and exterior spy shots of 2011 BMW 5 Series F10

Along with the now daily exterior spy photos of the 2011 BMW 5 Series, we finally have the chance to take a glance and the interior design in the new 5.

Past rumors mentioned that the new 5 Series will inherit many interior design cues from the 7 Series and the recently launched 5 Series GT.

High quality materials and trim, black gauges and plenty of new gadgets, are taking the next 5 Series interior design a few notches up the scale.

Even though the interior is partially covered, some things stand out. A new gear shifter for the automatic transmission can be seen. Since we’re looking at the high-end 5er here, 550i, we expect to feature the eight-speed automatic DCT transmission.

I don't mean to stir the pot but, why all of a sudden have both BMW and MB decided that their midsize and flagship vehicles now need split dual exhausts? I say that because both Audi and Lexus had done this with the A6 and GS, A8 and LS. I think the E and S-class looked better with it, along with the new 7, it just seems odd that they've finally embraced it.

I think BMW only apply split dual exhausts on high end model of the line up such as 335, and 550(the new one, i've seen other spy shots which have dual exhausts on one side, which i think maybe 523/525/528/530 depends on which country the car goes to)

DLIN is talking about "forced induction" with his "FI" comment.

And I fail to see what is so "sad" about BMW's most recent usage of forced induction. It improves the overall performance of the motor as well as the efficiency (fuel economy and such). And the engine response of a motor with forced induction is hardly a problem these days as cars like the 335i or S600 have demonstrated among others.

Thanks Willis. Anyway, my reasoning is the same as Walter, for his preference of GT3's engine over turbo's. Maybe you can find it on U tube.
